DANA THOMAS is the author of Fashionopolis: The Price of Fast Fashion and the Future of Clothes, Fashionopolis Young Readers Edition, Gods and Kings: The Rise and Fall of Alexander McQueen and John Galliano, and the New York Times bestseller Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Luster, all published by Penguin Press. She hosts “The Green Dream,” a podcast focused on sustainability and human rights, produced by Wondercast. She wrote the screenplay for Salvatore: Shoemaker of Dreams, a feature documentary directed by Luca Guadagnino, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2020.
Thomas began her career writing for the Style section of The Washington Post, and for fifteen years she served as a cultural and fashion correspondent for Newsweek in Paris. She is currently a contributing editor for British Vogue, and a regular contributor to The New York Times Style section. Thomas has written for The New York Times Magazine, The New Yorker, The Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, T: The New York Times Style Magazine, and Architectural Digest. In 1987, she received the Sigma Delta Chi Foundation’s Ellis Haller Award for Outstanding Achievement in Journalism. In 2016, the French Minister of Culture named Thomas a Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters. And in 2017, she was a Logan Nonfiction Fellow at the Carey Institute for Global Good. She lives in Paris.

Nichole Bess

Founder of Noir Fashion Week

Nichole M. Bess, globally recognized fashion industry leader and Founder of Noir Fashion Week, began her fashion public relations career in New York with industry pioneers Russell and Kimora Lee Simons and Super Model Naomi Campbell/NC Connect. 20 years later, her work has been featured in Entrepreneur, Vogue, Italian Vogue, Forbes, CNN, Ebony, 106 & Park, CBS, and Cosmopolitan, just to name a few. She found that seeing an entrepreneur's dream come true was both fulfilling and gratifying.

In 2022, Ms. Bess changed her trajectory by creating a traveling fashion week production entitled NOIR FASHION WEEK. NFW aims to empower BIPOC designers by connecting them to sustainable resources and profitable opportunities globally for foundational success in perpetuity. The platform has hosted over 35 BIPOC designers each season in Soho, NY. Since its inception, the unprecedented start-up has gained the attention of leading global industry leaders, press and invest-mentors. NFW is set to be an industry power platform with its disruptive style of inclusion.

Ms. Bess will be launching We Belong Here Global Master Class and Foundation by Summer 24'. These initiatives will help aid in the advancement of bipoc designers budding careers through global master class intiative held in Paris, France. The Foundation will cover the areas of Higher Education, Capital and Mentorship. She is consistently implementing creative strategy that institutes progression.

Co-Founder of Fashinnovation

Jordana Guimarães Co-Founded Fashinnovation, a global platform that promotes sustainability and innovation in the fashion industry. The platform is in collaboration with UNOP and recently rang the opening bell at NASDAQ. She is a recognized public speaker who strongly advocates ethical and sustainable fashion practices as well as technology/innovation in fashion. She believes that by working together, the fashion industry can build a more sustainable, ethical, and egalitarian future for all. Jordana is also a published author of the book "It Can Be You: Humanizing Homelessness” - a collection of stories of struggle from fashion influencers contrasted with similar stories of struggle from homeless individuals, showcasing a circumstance as the only thing separating the two.

Jerrimiah "Jerry" James

Founder of Jerrimiah James

Jerrimiah "Jerry" James is an accomplished personal shopper, Image and luxury sales consultant with more than 15 years of experience navigating the realm of high-end retail brands like Bottega Veneta, Tom Ford, Brunello Cucinelli, and Christian Dior.

During his years as a sales consultant and shopper, Jerry has generated tens of millions of dollars in sales, shopped major markets around the globe, brokered art deals, negotiated on behalf of his clients at luxury fashion houses in Europe, and even sold high-end pieces of jewelry with 8-10 million dollar price tags.

In 2021 Jerry used his sales business acumen and personal style to create a profitable career as an entrepreneur as the founder of Jerrimiah James Style Firm. Located in the illustrious Buckhead Village District, Jerrimiah James boasts a private styling suite and showroom offering personal shopping, image, and sales consulting services.

Moving within circles of influence and affluence, Jerry and his team outfit the lifestyles of an upscale clientele - entrepreneurs, engineers, restaurateurs, executives, creatives, athletes, and radio and television personalities.

Jerry's keen sense of what will sell and how to sell it makes him as much of a powerful force behind the scenes as he is on the frontlines of retail.

how does it work

1 - SWAP PREP! Select up to 5 items that are fit for giving as a gift from High Fashion to Fast Fashion. All items must be clean and in good condition.

2 - SWAP DROP (Pre-event) bring items to designated location and drop of your items where you’ll receive your tokens for swapping. (details on drop location TBA).

(Event Day) On July 29th bring items to Studio House Atlanta from 5PM - 6pm on where you’ll receive your tokens for swapping.

3 - LET’S SWAP! Now that you have your tokens for swapping the fun begins. 1 Token = 1 Item!

While we're actively seeking sustainable brands to be featured during this event, we're also accepting brands that may not be sustainable yet. We recognize that there's still a lot of work to be done in making the industry more sustainable, and we hope to inspire more people to make conscious choices and encourage positive change.
